The River Region Ballet's 18th cultural season will begin with their annual production of The Nutcracker. This full length version is a seasonal classic with its large cast, colorful costumes, and timeless music by Tchaikovsky. RRB will once again present a "Sugar Plum Matinee". This is a shortened performance of The Nutcracker designed specifically for young children. Included in the ticket price is admission to the "Sugar Plum Party". You won't want to miss this special event.
This year's Spring Performance will consist of diverse offerings. First is our concert entitled "Ballet in Black and White" depicting the evolution of ballet from the romantic to the 21st century. Featured in this concert is Giselle Act II, a white act from the romantic period. Giselle has been dubbed the Hamlet of ballets and is the most important ballet of the romantic era. The concert will progress through Secrets an original piece in the classical syte, Palladio a contemporary pas de deux, and Matrix a fusion of ballet and jazz. "Ballet in Black and White" will capture all balletomanes with it's diverse range of styles, composers and choreographers.
RRB will also present a special children's matinee of Thumbelina. Similar to the Sugar Plum matinee, Thumbelina will hold unique surprises for our young dance enthusiasts. A colorful fairy tale performed by young dancers is sure to delight and entertain all ages.
